Ineroux's Cottage

Thoreau's Cottage. Walden Pond. Concord. Massachusetts. 1845-1841 (reconstruction, 20th century) Wood, fieldstone, and earth.

A faithful reconstruction of the cabin where Henry David Thoreau lived in deliberate simplicity from July 1845 to September 1847. Built near the original site, the structure stands as both artefact and idea, a physical echo of Thoreau's experiment in self-reliance, observation, and moral inquiry. Its modest form continues to frame questions of how to live, what to need, and what It means to be alone in nature.
